Why can't I process this film at my favorite C-41 lab?
Kodak’s color motion picture films, like this one, can technically be cross-processed in C-41 chemicals. However, these films include a layer called "RemJet," which can ruin the equipment at commercial labs not equipped to handle it. Unless the lab specifically states they process ECN-2 film, DO NOT bring this film to a standard C-41 lab. The RemJet layer will severely damage their machines!
Which commercial labs in NYC will process my Kodak motion picture film?
We recommend the following labs in NYC:
How can I process this film at home?
You can process this film at home using an ECN-2 development kit. We recommend the kit from the Film Photography Project. It’s easy to mix the chemicals and comes with step-by-step instructions.
Additional Home Processing Step:
After completing the standard development steps, rinse your film in a half bucket of hot water (80-102°F). Gently rub the non-emulsion side to remove any remaining RemJet, being careful not to scratch the emulsion side. Rinse under running water until all the RemJet is gone, then hang your film to dry. Enjoy your results!
